Wella Professionals released its Top Hair Trends for 2014.

The list was created by collaborating with more than 20 world renowned stylists, including the company’s global creative directors, Eugene Souleiman (styling) and Josh Wood (color).

So what are the latest hair styling trends this year?

“Urban Native,” for Spring/Summer 2014, which was a look created for the Peter Som Spring/Summer 2014 fashion show. (shown in photo, top row).

“It’s a deconstructed, very natural feeling to the hair with textures where they should be. Hair isn’t ironed flat or over-styled – it’s natural, pretty but a little bit edgy. The style is much looser and much cooler, which reflects the personality of the girl who wears it,” explains Souleiman.

What about color? “It transitions away from bright and intense colors into soft corals and bleached pastels – it’s a very soft pastel that almost has a washed out quality,” says Woods.

“Borderline Beauty,” for Autumn/Winter 2014, a look depicted at the Jeremy Scott Autumn/Winter 2014 fashion show. (shown in photo, bottom row.)

What is it? A “rebel without a cause” look – with greys and muted tones. It’s a “no-nonsense feeling about hair, and the attitude is more definite. It has a stronger, rebellious attitude,” says Souleiman.

Stylists are encouraged to enter Wella’s upcoming North American TrendVision Awards – for a chance to compete in Germany at the International TrendVision Awards (ITVA). Entries are due May 15th – see www.bloom.com/wella-trendvision for an application.
